College and University Faculty:

Choose FIS for Your Students!

An important question for College and University faculty...

What one resource can help you prepare students to:

    create a meaningful activity
    develop cultural competency
    teach & support effective parenting
build marriage & family relationship skills
develop parent & family education materials
find the perfect handout to illustrate a point
    combine educational & therapeutic techniques
adapt family education curricula for post-crisis needs
work with a wide variety of resource materials in the field?

Expand Your Repertoire of Ideas and Techniques!

Family Information Services provides hundreds of tools for teaching about the methods & materials of parenting and family life education. If your students plan to serve families — in agencies, schools, churches, or the community — they will benefit from adding family life education to their repertoire of skills.

They may be expected to provide educational support:

  • as part of their organization's continuum of care.

  • by suggesting helpful resources to their clients, in agency, school or private practice settings.

  • by leading workshops & classes requested by community groups.

  • as a part of parent education or marriage education programs.

  • during home visits.

  • in teaching or counseling with youth about their relationships or future marriage & family goals.

  • as follow-up or after-care with clients who have been through chemical dependency or other treatment and are now looking for support in rebuilding their family life.

By combining practical professional development with ready-to-use resources, Family Information Services will support you with valuable tools as you prepare students to be effective “prevention educators.”

Faculty who email a copy of their syllabus indicating that they have required the FIS Library as a resource receive FREE access to the Library. Click on "Order Now" to download the ordering information. You may place the PDF order form on your course website.

Instructors may purchase the FIS Library at the regular Professional Rate and print out selected handouts for students as part of your "face-to-face" teaching, but the copyright does not allow the entire library (in print or electronic format) to be provided to students in lieu of requiring them to purchase their own copy.
